April Heller, A.P. is a graduate of the Florida College of Integrative Medicine and a licensed Acupuncture Physician in the State of Florida. She has accumulated more than 1000 hours of practice and has successfully treated more than 300 patients. Treatments have included pain management, menstrual problems, headache management, digestive regulation, immune support, anxiety management, and depression and stress relief.

How acupuncture works...

Acupuncture uses small needles, the size of a human hair, to manipulate the body’s qi, or energy, in order to bring the body to the optimal state of healing.

The big question…

Does acupuncture hurt? The short answer is no…there may be sensations such as tingling, numbness, or fullness. This is called De Qi or the “arrival of qi” to the acupuncture point and is a sign the point is active and the treatment is eliciting the desired response.

Products and services

In conjunction with acupuncture, other modalities are used in treatment. They include:

• Cupping – applying small cups using negative pressure to relieve pain and move qi and blood in the body
• Moxibustion – burning the Chinese herb Mugwort to heat the body
• Gua Sha – scraping of the body to move qi and blood
• Tui Na – Chinese massage for pain relieve
• Nutritional counseling
